Position: Assistant Coordinator - Student Health

Position Summary:

Directs 

Directs and administers a comprehensive wellness education and prevention program for Student Health Services (serving approximately 30,000 students); Assist in the supervision of 8 interns, and assist in the monthly reporting of program events and activities.


Essential Functions, Major Duties, and/or Accountabilities:
  • Assist in the coordination and development of new and existing health programs within Student Health Services and Student Life.   
  • Collaborate with Student Government, Student Advisory Leaders, Vice presidents, Assistant Vice Presidents, Deans, Department Chairs, Directors, Assistant Coordinators, and Student Interns on trends, training, development, operations, events, and policies related to health and Student Health Services issues.    
  • Assist in the marketing and promotion of all areas within Student Health Services. 
  • Assist in assigning responsibilities for implementing Student Health Services, programs and activities.  
  • Assists in the coordination with departments and administrators to create effective Student Health partnerships at University, local, state and national levels.
  • Assist in the training/support/evaluation/oversight of programs and policy changes where applicable. 
  • Assist in the advisement and promotion of Wellness Programs / Workplace Wellness to HR and campus community; includes training/support/evaluation/oversight of all programs and policy changes.   
  • Coordinate and assist with development of classroom presentations, University and community workshops and training on Student Health related issues. 
  • Assists in the representation for the University with professional, civic, community, government agencies, and groups in coordination with Student Health Services.  
  • Assists in the examination of current and future theory, practices, techniques, rules and regulations related to responsibilities within Student Health Services.
  • Train and administer wellness services in the form of academic presentations, educational workshops, behavior modification counseling, health risk appraisal testing and health screenings. 
  • Assist in the promotion of health services and programs (mental health services and issues, medical services and issues, wellness programs and services) for a campus of 30,000 students and other duties as assigned. 

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Assists in the supervision of 8 interns from Community, Public Health and Exercise Science departments

Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in a Health Related field (Community Health, Public Health or Exercise Science) AND two years’ experience related to the essential function and duties.

  • Knowledge of the principles and methodology of administering a high-quality Student Health programming and promotion, as well as, wellness education programs.
  • Ability to plan and conduct workshops, presentations, and other development programs designed to increase knowledge of student health related issues.
  • Ability to develop curriculum as it relates to Student Health Services and Health promotion in a University population.
  • Ability to develop effective business and educational partnerships at the campus, local, state and national levels in behalf of Student Health Services.
  • Skills in creation of professional quality brochures, posters, advertisements, displays and other marketing materials.
  • Ability to write and obtain funding from grants and contracts.
  • Ability to interpret and implement complex state and federal grants requirements.
  • Ability to supervise others, including employees and volunteers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide-variety of audience, individuals, etc.
