Position: Assistant Video Cinematographer

Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Director - Studios/Broadcast Services, the Assistant Video Cinematographer will work closely with clients and supervisors to create video and audio content.  Independently make decisions on solo camera shoots and collaborate with colleagues on larger productions. Act as cinematographer to achieve stylistic, visually appealing video imagery.

Essential Functions, Major Duties, and/or Accountabilities:
  • Set up lighting and direct camera composition for recording scenes, interviews and B-roll
  • Using industry standard software including Premiere Pro and After Effects edit and create video and audio content for institutional clients.
  • Edit basic audio and video projects using Premiere Pro and After Effects.   
  • Operate video tape recorders, cameras, and basic audio equipment.
  • Manage production of video projects from concept to finished edit and delivery.  
  • Maintain consistent look and feel of projects using scripts and story boards.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • N/A

Special Requirements of the Position:
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. 
  • Schedule must allow for some evening/weekend work when necessary.

Qualifications:

This is a Career Ladder position; a progression plan will be implemented to measure your skill level.

Graduation from a standard senior high school or the equivalent and any combination of video production related education and/or experience related to the essential functions of 1 year. 

Graduation from a standard senior high school or the equivalent and any combination of video production related education and/or experience related to the essential functions totaling 2 years. 

Graduation from a standard senior high school or the equivalent and any combination of video production related education and/or experience related to the essential functions totaling 3 years.

  • Experience with lights, lighting, grip equipment and use. 
  • Experience with camera operation, framing, and movement.
  • Ability to translate script and storyboard to moving pictures in an effective manner.
  • Ability to work within a budget.
  • Experience with editing software, especially Premiere Pro.
  • Organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience with established production management practices.
