Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Associate Vice President - Human Resources/Equity Officer, the Associate Director - Human Resources will work as part of the Human Resources Team, assist the Executive Director in establishing, maintaining and evaluating the University's Human Resource programs.


Essential Functions, Major Duties, and/or Accountabilities:
  • Provide management support to the Executive Director of Human Resources as required.
  • Oversee the administration, coordination, and analysis of the employment activities and functions of the university to assist supervisors in recruiting and hiring highly qualified employees and help ensure compliance with federal, state, and university requirements.
  • Oversee the administration, design, and analysis of multiple university wage and salary programs for all staff and part-time employees through long-range strategic planning and the development of policy recommendations, procedures, regulations, and forms in order to maintain equitable and competitive wage and salary programs.
  • Oversee the Information Systems administration and implementation.
  • Develop, recommends, implements, maintains, and monitors training and organizational development programs.
  • Oversee the coordination and design of Human Resources Department communications relating to employees and the university.
  • Supervise and direct the work activities of the Employment Manager, Compensation Manager, and Information Systems Manager and other department staff as assigned.
  • As requested, will serve as acting Human Resource Director in the absence of the Human Resources Director.
  • Perform all other related duties involved in the operation of the Human Resources Department.
  • Serve as a Human Resources representative to University divisions as required. This includes service and support for the following: employee relations, position classification, new employee orientation, training/organizational development, performance management, and evaluation.

Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited institution with a master's degree and two years of experience related to the summary of duties; OR any combination of education and/or experience related to the summary of duties totaling eight years.

  • Experience with Human Resource databases and applicant tracking systems.
  • Knowledge of higher education human resource policies and practices.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in order to.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to interpret policies and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, Visio).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise both administrative and professional staff as well as student employees.
  • Banner and PeopleAdmin experience preferred.
