Position Summary:

Under the Director of Student Health Services – the Wellness Programs; Program Coordinator will assist in the operation of a comprehensive wellness education and prevention program for Student Health Services(serving approximately 33,000 students and 3,500 employees), supervises one full time Assistant Coordinator and one part time Assistant Coordinator and eight senior student interns); oversees all training of employees, oversees all budget accounts, oversee grants and prepare all federal applications and reports. 

Essential Functions, Major Duties, and/or Accountabilities:


  • Coordinates and develops all new and existing health programs within Student Health Services and Student Life.
  • Supervises and trains of student interns on current trends, training, development, operations, events, and policies related to Wellness and Student Health Services issues.
  • Facilitates coordination and planning of Student Health programs and assignments.
  • Facilitate effective Student Health partnerships at University, local, state and national levels.
  • Oversees all grant applications, reports and grants proposals.
  • Advises all health related Task Forces and Student Advisory groups; include training/support/evaluation/oversight of programs and policy changes.
  • Coordinates and promote Workplace Wellness services to UVU employees; includes training / support / evaluation/oversight of all programs.
  • Develops classroom and staff presentations, University and community workshops and training on Student Health related issues.
  • Examine current and future theory, practices, techniques, rules and regulations related to responsibilities within Student Health Services.
  • Conducts wellness behavior modification counseling for the UVU population.
  • Oversees and implements all marketing and promotion of health services and programs for a campus of 33,000 students and 3,500 employees.
  • Coordinates the development and changes of the UVU Wellness Programs website.
  • Coordination and facilitation of Health Risk Appraisal Testing and all biometric testing for UVU population.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • 8 Interns, Grade 05, Nonexempt and students.
  • 2 Assistant Coordinators (one full and one part time)

Special Requirements of the Position:

Graduation from an accredited institution with a masters in a Health Related, Exercise Science, Physical Education or related field and 2 years work experience OR bachelor's degree AND 4 years experience related to the essential function and duties.

  • Knowledge of the principles and methodology of high-quality Student Health programming and promotion, as well as, wellness education programs.
  • Ability to plan and conduct workshops, presentations, and other development programs designed to increase knowledge of student health related issues.
  • Ability to develop curriculum as it relates to Student Health Services and Health promotion in a University population.
  • Ability to develop effective partnerships at the campus and local levels in behalf of Student Health Services.
  • Skills in creation of professional quality brochures, posters, advertisements, displays and other marketing materials.
  • Ability to interpret and complex state and federal grants requirements.
  • Ability to supervise others, including interns and volunteers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide-variety of audience, individuals, etc.
