Meeting With Your Academic Advisor

Once you've decided to pursue an interdisciplinary minor, you'll need to meet with the academic advisor for that minor. The advisor for most of our interdisciplinary programs is Lynne Hetzel. This section of the web site will explain what the academic advisor does and help you prepare for your first meeting with her. It's important to prepare because doing so will allow her to make the best use of your time when you meet with her.

What an Academic Advisor Does

Lynne can provide personalized help, including information about how classes you have already taken apply toward the minor you are pursuing. You should make an appointment to meet with her as soon as possible if you are considering this an interdisciplinary minor. Your meeting with her can be more productive if you have already researched the minor in the catalog, and on this website.

Arranging a Meeting with the Academic Advisor

In order to make your meeting with the Academic Advisor productive, we suggest you familiarize yourself with the content pertaining to your chosen minor that is on this website.  If possible, please bring academic transcripts to your appointment because they will greatly enhance your advisor's ability to assist your academic planning.

You can either call, email, or walk in to the Interdisciplinary Studies office to make an appointment. Appointments are usually held in Lynne's office, but if you are out of town or unable to make an in-person appointment, you can schedule a telephone meeting.
