2014-15 UVU ISP Application Instructions

Please carefully read and retain these instructions for your records.

Admission to a UVU International Study Program is non-discriminatory. UVU admits persons without regard to gender, race, creed, religion, national origin, age, or disability who meet UVU’s academic requirements, agree to abide by the Student Rights and Responsibility Code of Conduct, and are otherwise qualified. Contact International Study Programs (ISP) in WB147 or at for accommodative services.

*Check each program’s flier for the specific submission deadline for that program. Applications submitted after a respective submission deadline are subject to program availability and a higher participation fee.

Before submitting your application and required documents, the following must be paid to the UVU Cashier in BA109 using the appropriate ISP payment cards (available online and in WB147):

  1. $195 nonrefundable application fee
  2. $300 program deposit

All applications must be completed and submitted with the following items to the ISP office by the program application deadline to be considered valid:

  1. Completed online ISP Application
  2. Current college/university transcript(s)—unofficial okay
  3. Two online letters of reference
  4. Photo (When you submit your application, make sure your digital UV ID photo is accessible to the ISP office; if not, have your photo taken at UVU’s Campus Connection.)
  5. Proof of payment of the $195 nonrefundable application fee and the $300 program deposit
  6. Online Scholarship Application (optional)

Applicants not currently attending UVU must be admitted (uvu_admissioninstructions.pdf) before they will be accepted to an International Study Program.

After the application fee and deposit are paid to the UVU Cashier, and the completed application has been submitted to the ISP office, students will be interviewed and then notified per their acceptance to the program.

Each participant must bring four photocopies of her/his passport to the ISP office in WB147 by March 27, 2015.

Fees and Payment Schedule
The $195 nonrefundable application fee and the $300 program deposit must be paid to the UVU Cashier in BA109. Other payments are to be made to the UVU Cashier as follows:

  • First Payment ($800) due January 30, 2015
  • Second Payment ($1,000) due February 27, 2015
  • Final Payment (balance) due March 27, 2015

All prices are tentative and are based on current exchange rates and program plans. Final payments may be increased due to exchange-rate increases or program changes.

Late Applications
No applicant will be officially accepted into a program until the $300 deposit is paid. Students accepted after an official payment deadline must, within one working day, make their payment(s) current.

Late Fees
After an applicant is officially accepted into a program, a $50 late fee will be charged for each late payment. All UVU debts (traffic tickets, library fees, etc.) must be cleared prior to departure.

Upon acceptance to an International Study Program, participants will be instructed on how to register for classes. Following registration, students will pay tuition for their classes.

Financial Aid and Scholarships
UVU-administered grants and loans may be applied towards program fees. Applications should be made through UVU Financial Aid & Scholarships, located in BA105 (

ISP-administered scholarships may be available. Check with ISP to determine if a scholarship is available for your program. Scholarship applications are online. Applicants must apply for the program as well as for the program scholarship by the program application deadline.

UVU Employee & Employee Dependent Tuition Waivers may be applied for up to six credits of ISP tuition.

Cancellations and Refunds
All cancellations must be submitted in writing to the International Study Programs office. Cancellations will not be accepted over the phone.

The $195 application fee is not calculated as part of the program cost and is nonrefundable unless the program is cancelled.

The $300 deposit is calculated as part of the program cost. Generally, the $300 deposit is nonrefundable after January 30, 2015.

International Study Programs expects accepted applicants to participate; ISP uses program fees to arrange for the respective itinerary. Cancellation refund amounts for most programs, therefore, shall be determined according to the following schedule:

  1. January 31 to February 27, 2015 – Full refund (minus $300 deposit)
  2. February 28 to March 27, 2015 – Full refund (minus $300, minus 20 percent)
  3. March 28, 2015 or later – Full refund (minus $300, minus 30 percent)

By applying to a UVU International Study Program, you agree to accept the terms of the payment/cancellation procedure.

Preparatory Meetings
All students who participate in an International Study Program are required to attend mandatory monthly prep meetings for their respective programs. Failure to attend may result in removal from a program.

Pre-Departure and Reentry Evaluations
Program evaluations are extremely valuable for ISP's assessment and outcomes records. Students participating in an International Study Program will be required to fill out a pre-departure and reentry evaluation online.

Important International Health Insurance Information
Students participating in a UVU International Study Program will be enrolled in a group plan administered by a UVU-contracted insurance provider. For more information, contact the ISP office.
