Program details: Program participants will immerse themselves in the Spanish language at El Cultural, a language school in Trujillo, Peru. Trujillo is located about 350 miles up the coast from Lima. El Cultural provides a rigorous curriculum that is taught by certified teachers. Language instruction will be held in the mornings, with afternoons set aside for cultural and recreational activities. Saturdays will be filled with excursions to sites close to Trujillo.

Upon arrival in Peru, the group will spend two days exploring sites in Lima. Then, following the almost four weeks in Trujillo, it’s off to wrap up an amazing experience with a three-day visit to Cusco and Machupichu.

Tentative dates: May 4 – June 4, 2014.

Anticipated curriculum: Independent Study (LANG 291R), Special Topics in Languages (LANG 481R), Beginning Spanish II (SPAN 1020), Intermediate Spanish I (SPAN 2010), Spanish Conversation II (SPAN 2015), Intermediate Spanish II (SPAN 202G), Spanish Conversation and Composition I (SPAN 3030), Spanish Conversation and Composition II (SPAN 3040), Advanced Spanish (SPAN 3050), Culture and Civilization—Spanish America (SPAN 3520), Special Topics in Grammar Usage and Style (SPAN 4050), and Advanced Spanish Writing (SPAN 4500).

Estimated program fee: $2,795. Apply by Friday, December 20, 2013  January 31, 2014.

Program fee covers: Language school instruction, housing, most meals, in-country transportation, entry fees, international health insurance.

Program fee DOES NOT cover: Round-trip airfare (approx. $1,500), UVU tuition (approx. $160 per credit hour), passport, some meals, discretionary spending.

Tuition Waivers: UVU Employee & Employee Dependent Tuition Waivers may be applied for up to six credits of ISP tuition.

Financial aid: Pell grants and Federal Insured Student Loans may be applied to this program, based on eligibility. 
Applicants must have a current FAFSA form on file at the Financial Aid Office (BA105) and complete all necessary application forms for financial aid.

Scholarships: ISP will provide need-based scholarships to qualified participants.
