Study Abroad: Theatre

Program details: Experience four exciting weeks abroad, based in the heart of London’s West End Theatre District. See all types of theatre—musicals, comedies, dramas, cutting-edge works, classical and contemporary pieces alike—and perform at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland. This program, geared specifically toward theatrical text and performance, features visits to Shakespeare’s Globe, the Royal National Theatre, and other professional venues, along with side trips to Stratford-upon-Avon and Paris. Tentative dates: July 16 - August 9, 2013.

Program Sites: London (16 nights); Paris (2 nights); Stratford (2 nights); Edinburgh (5 nights).

Anticipated curriculum: Introduction to Theatre (THEA 1013), Performance Practicum for Stage and Screen (THEA 219R), Theatre History and Literature (THEA 3723 and 3733), and Theatre Internship (THEA 281R or 481R). Students will take six credit hours. Other courses may be offered upon consultation.

Estimated participation fee: $3,995. Apply by March 18, 2013, for this price.

Participation fee covers: Housing; public transportation within England, France, and Scotland; side trips; entrance fees for group activities; play tickets; international health insurance.

Participation fee does not cover: UVU tuition (approx. $160 per credit hour), round-trip airfare, most meals, passport, discretionary spending.

Application deadline: March 18, 2013. Submit application, two letters of reference, $195 non-refundable application fee, and $300 program deposit. If you miss the deadline, you are still welcome to apply until the program is full, but please note that the participation fee will be higher and program space is limited. Tuition Waivers: UVU Employee & Employee Dependent Tuition Waivers may be applied for up to six credits of ISP tuition.

Financial aid: Pell grants and Federal Insured Student Loans may be applied to this program, based on eligibility.
Applicants must have a current FAFSA form on file at the Financial Aid Office (BA105) and complete all necessary application forms for financial aid.
