The most successful way to inform students about internships is through faculty. Below
are ways in which faculty members can encourage internships within the department:
Announce a “Hot Internship of the Week” to classes
Post internship success stories on your the office door, information board or department
Add department internship information to syllabus
Encourage internship involvement while assisting or advising students
Include internship subject matter in the overall curriculum
Encourage students to use the UV Job Board to search for internships
Have former students return and report about internship and career experiences
Ask Internship Services staff to do an internship spotlight or full presentation in your class
Join Internships Services Facebook and Twitter pages and link to your departments social media pages
For additional suggestions or assistance with increasing internship participation
in your department, please call (801) 863-6589 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Internship Coordinator Responsibilities
We value your role in connecting students to internship opportunities and for the
insights you provide to make internships a successful and positive experience for
UVU students. We have developed two documents (below) to assist new Department Internship
Coordinators and Faculty Supervisors through the internship process.
Faculty Supervisor Responsibilities - For larger departments that have several key players in the process of managing student
internships, we created the Faculty Supervisor Responsibilities document. This document
explains the internship processes that relate directly to the faculty member assigned
to supervise the intern.
Internship Coordinators List
Internship Services updates the Coordinator List
every semester. Coordiantors may use it as a reference for contacting coordinators
in other departments for ideas, questions and additional resources.
Internship Providers List
All internship sites that have completed the Master Internship Agreement are listed
on the Internship Providers List. These internship providers are considered approved to offer credit-bearing internships.
Submit a request for a member of our Internship Services staff to present in your
class if you will be absent for the day or just want us to promote internships to
your students! Presentations are tailored to class topics and can be 5 to 50+ minutes
long. Presentation Request Form
