Student Awards
Craig Sowby, an Integrated Studies Student with emphases in Music and Office Management recently won first place in a music recording competition for the International Conference of the Audio Engineering Society. This conference is held twice a year, one in the United States (alternating between New York and San Francisco) and one in Europe. The prize was for his recording of "Other Side", a recording of the "Brian Friedman Band" recorded at Corner House Studio (which Sowby runs). There were six categories in the competition, and his first prize was for the Pop/Rock category. The conference is widely attended by members of the Audio Engineering Society from all over the United States and Europe.
In addition to be a student in IS here at UVU, Craig records concerts for the UVU Music department. He plays violin in Utah Valley University Symphony and Chamber Orchestra, he's a drummer for the UVU Jazz Band, for "Throwing Randy", and for the Brandi Frampton Band.
We're proud of Craig's accomplishments and happy to have him as a student in our program.
