Kirk was born and raised in Utah Valley. Following high school he went on to earn a Bachelors degree in Behavioral Science from UVU. Throughout his time at UVU, he has developed a deep love for the school; in fact, excluding a brief period of two years spent earning a masters degree, Kirk has been at UVU as a student or employee since 1996. He is grateful for the chance to give back to an institution that has given so much to him.

Following his educational experience at UVU, Kirk went on to earn a Masters degree in Sociology from Brigham Young University and is currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program in Leadership Studies at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. Kirk is married to Katie DiStefano who he met in the bookstore at UVU. They have a seven-year-old boy, McKay, a four-year-old boy, Connor, and a third child on the way. They live in Heber, Utah.

Belinda grew up in San Diego, California as the oldest of 7 children (5 brothers and 1 sister). She moved to Lehi, Utah while in high school and graduated as a Lehi Pioneer! After high school Belinda attended Snow College and eventually found her way to UVU. At UVU she was involved with UVUSA, the Service Learning Center, and many other campus organizations. She graduated from UVU with a Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science and soon got her dream job - a pizza delivery driver! However, it wasn’t long before a non-profit hired her fulltime. She has spent the last several years working in the non-profit sector doing everything from fundraising to curriculum creation to teaching.

Belinda is currently working on her Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership at Gonzaga University in Spokane Washington. She has been married to Jerod Han, from Las Vegas, since 2007 and resides in Saratoga Springs, Utah. Belinda is excited to be part of the CAL team!

Dixie Maughan is Administrative Support for The Center for the Advancement of Leadership. She has been with CAL for the last year and previously worked in the Technology Management Department. She came to UVU because her four children have all attended the university and had great experiences.

Dixie’s responsibilities in the office include working with the director, assisting the advisory board, and supervising work study students and interns. Her greatest satisfaction in her position is the interaction with the people involved in CAL—the students, the advisory board, and UVU staff. Dixie enjoys seeing the students succeed in their leadership journeys.

Dixie likes cooking (especially desserts), sewing, gluing rhinestones on dance costumes, white water rafting, and playing with her two grandchildren. She also listens to Rammstein, wrestles with her son in Mexican wrestling masks, plays Halo and Wii, and can do a front flip off her couch.

Betsy grew up in the small town of Minersville in southern Utah. She has an older brother and sister, a younger brother and sister, and two exceptional parents. She graduated from Beaver High School and went on to attend BYU-Idaho. Before finishing school, Betsy completed an 18 month mission in Brazil. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies Education. After graduating, Betsy moved to Provo and has worked at schools in the Utah Valley.

She most recently worked at a therapeutic boarding school for troubled teens. She has been a volunteer mentor for victims of child abuse through the Children’s Justice Center as well as a volunteer tutor for refugees in foster care through Catholic Community Services. Betsy enjoys sports, books, evening walks, and rocks.

Through the CAL, Karson has taken full advantage of the opportunities which he has been given.  Karson is highly involved at UVU; he is a Dean's List student, served on UVUSA, and has attained Leadership Certification with High Distinction.

Karson spends much of his free time reading and drawing. Karson will soon graduate UVU with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing.

Myrna June Rodriguez was born in Bountiful and grew up in Herriman, Utah. She graduated from Herriman High School as their Business Sterling Scholar in 2011. She currently lives in Provo pursuing a B.S. in Business Management with an emphasis in Entrepreneurship. Myrna June has been involved with the UVU Service Center and many other campus organizations. She is completing her Leadership Certification with High Distinction this semester.

Myrna June spends most of her time studying but enjoys going on adventures whenever she can. During her free time, she can often be found rock climbing, hiking, skiing, trail running, and most recently, paragliding.

Kelli grew up in Manti and graduated in 2010. She comes from a family of five girls and two amazing parents. She graduated Suma Cum Laude from Snow College with an Associate of Science in 2011. And will graduate this year with a Bachelor of Business with an emphasis in Management from UVU. Kelli throws the javelin and hammer for the Utah Valley University track and field. She loves working in the CAL office.

Kelli loves waterskiing, boating, sports, and anything in the outdoors.

Jill grew up in Tremonton and graduated from Bear River High School in 2010.  After graduating from the leadership program in 2012, Jill has become a Team Leader and recently started to work at the CAL.

Jill enjoys camping, four-wheeling, fishing, and spending time with her husband.

Jill will graduate in 2014 with a B.A. in Communication with an emphasis in Public Relations.
