Library Awards Information
Library awards recipients are nominated by library staff. Awards are presented annually
in the following categories:
- Employee of the Year
- Library Aide of the Year
- Special Projects Award
All Library staff are eligible to nominate others for awards.
Award Criteria
Employee of the YearThe Library Employee of the Year Award includes recognition, a cash prize, and paid
time off. It recognizes an exceptional employee who meets the following criteria:
- Exemplary performance in own responsibilities, as well as service beyond assigned
duties
- Exceptional contributions to work within the Library over a sustained period of time
- Innovative or creative ideas that have improved the efficiency or effectiveness of
a Library unit or service
- Demonstrated exceptional leadership in the improvement of Library programs, services,
or operations
- Excellent customer service to all library populations (co-workers, patrons, campus,
etc.)
- Employee performance should directly serve the mission of department or the general
Library
- Outstanding personal qualities:
- Positive rapport with all levels of staff, both within and outside the Library
- Demonstrates initiative and resourcefulness
- Exemplary attitude and reliability
- Integrity or other commendable traits
Recipient is selected by the Library Director, based on nominations and awards committee
recommendations.
Library Aide of the YearThe Library Aide of the Year Award includes recognition, a cash prize, and paid time
off. It recognizes an exceptional Library aide who meets the following criteria:
- Exemplary performance
- Positive attitude
- Excellent customer service
- Excellent productivity
- Dependability
- Performance directly serves the mission statement of the department and/or the general
Library.
Recipient is selected by the awards committee based on staff nominations.
Special Projects Award
The Special Projects Award includes recognition, a cash prize, and paid time off.
It recognizes one or multiple nominees, such as teams, task forces, or committees,
who meet the following criteria:
- Project should have been completed within the last year
- Project should reflect resolution to a problem, and/or enhance or improve one or more
services of the Library
- Project should demonstrate creativity and innovation
- Project should demonstrate how individuals or groups collaborated to achieve final
results
- Project should have a positive impact on internal and/or external customers
- Project should serve or support the mission of the department and/or the Library's
general mission statement
Recipient or recipients are selected by the awards committee based on staff nominations.
