You can also try searching for art research in one of our art specific databases. JSTOR will be a particularly helpful resource for art history research.

Some tips to make finding art research easier:

  • Go broad: there may not be a lot of content about your specific piece, but there will be articles on pieces like it, or from the same time period.
  • Artist Canon: even if there is limited content about your specific piece, there may be items about other pieces by the same artist which can be beneficial to your research.
  • Search for themes and motifs.
  • Run lots of different searches using different sets of keywords.
