Scholars' open Archive
A new service for faculty and staff to openly share research:
UVU Library is offering an exciting new online service called "Scholars' Open Archive." It allows any UVU faculty or staff member to create an open access showcase of his or her research including, but not limited to, previously published pieces. The results are easily visible in Google and other search engines, allowing for greater visibility for both the individual and the institution.
Scholars’ Open Archive provides:
Faculty or staff create and manage their own sites. Using a platform called SelectedWorks, scholars can easily customize a site and then upload any type of research-related materials, including preprints, published articles, book chapters, conference and classroom presentations, courses and seminars, audio-visual works, grant proposals, and so on. They can post the full text of a paper, link to full text on another site, or simply cite work they’ve done. Individuals have full control over adding and removing content. Furthermore, they can track how often their work is downloaded, notify colleagues of their latest research via a mailing list, and customize information about their own scholarly expertise.
Faculty and staff will see increased usage of their research:
Through Scholars' Open Archive, members contribute to and benefit from a shared, open access community of other scholars in their fields of interest. There are currently authors from fifty-six other institutions contributing to SelectedWorks, and more than 160,000 academic papers posted. All of these contributions are searchable through both SelectedWorks and Google. Scholars will realize increased readership and citations to their own contributions, and will also benefit from the open access that they have to others' research.
Faculty can present materials for Retention, Tenure and Promotion documentation in an ordered and professional fashion:
With the SelectedWorks platform, faculty have an attractive, uniform, and stable platform from which to present their research and publications, their curriculum vitae, and information about their professional service, activities, grants, and awards.
Start sharing your research and benefiting from the research of others right away:
To see works by fellow UVU researchers, access Scholars' Open Archive at http://works.bepress.com/uvu/ or through the UVU Library Homepage, under "Quick Links." Interested faculty can create a SelectedWorks site in just minutes by "Creating an Account" and then "Starting a Site," both linked at the bottom of the page.
