Professional Development in the Literacies and Composition Department

A High Expectation of Faculty Development

The Department of Literacies and Composition places a great emphasis on Faculty Development and considers it to be an essential part of being a successful teacher and scholar. The fields of Rhetoric, and Writing are constantly changing, and new research and theory is published every week. Our professors, instructors, and adjuncts are constantly improving their approach and understanding in a myriad of ways, from conducting and publishing their own research, participating in conferences, panels, and seminars, creating custom course texts and website, and through our department's own monthly Literacies and Composition In-Service seminars.

We strive to stay on the cutting-edge of what we do, integrating new technologies, research, theories, and approaches to ensure that our students are prepared for composing in the 21st century, and the large variety of composition tasks they will be called to do as part of their time at Utah Valley University. Check out our Faculty Bio Page to see some of the research and work being done by our professors, and take a look below to see some of the many resources we utilize to stay current and effective in our field.
