The Writing Center will help you at any stage in the writing process. If you are having trouble interpreting an assignment, need help getting started, need to brainstorm, or if you have already written a draft of a paper, they can always help.
  • The best way to see the Writing Center is to make an appointment. To make an appointment:
    • Go to http://www.uvu.edu/writingcenter/tutoring/scheduling.html and click the link to register with MyWCOnline
    • Call 801-863-8936
    • Stop by LI 208 where the Writing Center can help sign you up for MyWCOnline or make an appointment for you
    • When you come for your appointment, bring
      • Your essay or ideas
      • Your assignment guidelines
      • Your questions, concerns, fears and priorities
  • When you come to the Writing Center, another college student will sit down with you and discuss your paper with you. They don’t simply mark up a paper and send you on your way. Instead, they want to help you, the writer, become stronger at writing and more independent in revising. To do these things, they will talk through your concerns and help you make changes.
  • Finally, remember that developing yourself as a writer is a process, so be patient with yourself. Also, be prepared to talk back and forth with the tutor. The Writing Center works to go beyond simply telling you what to do, instead focusing on collaborating with you to improve not only your specific assignment but your writing knowledge and skills as a whole.
