Math for Creativity and Precision

Welcome to Utah Valley University

Do you want to know a secret? UVU has a special program for your success that most students have not yet discovered – Structured Learning Assistance !

Who should participate in Structured Learning Assistance?

·          Anyone who wants to raise course grades

·          Anyone who needs or wants additional help for course success

·          Anyone who is willing to make time commitments to attend

Choosing a SLA section is a tremendous value for your money

·          Free group tutoring (up to 45 hours per semester)

·          Increased concept mastery

·          Grade enhancement

What makes Structured Learning Assistance different from other academic support programs?

·          Structured Learning Assistance is an academic success program that bridges the gap between performance and course demands

·          A key to success is attendance at the workshops. Attendance becomes optional when test averages are 80% or higher.

Think of the workshops as a safety railing on the edge of a steep cliff. The railing permits enjoyment of a scenic panoramic view from a safe distance. Without the railing, participants run the risk of slipping off the cliff’s edge. At the bottom, ambulance personnel wait to treat those who lose their footing. Keeping participants safe is more effective than overcoming the negative results of a fall.

·          Workshop activities that reinforce course content and introduce specific learning strategies

I hope you choose to enroll in a SLA section. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please contact Jeni Wilcox, SLA Coordinator, at (801) 863-6727 or drop in at LA 201. I look forward to your educational success.

Sincerely,

Jeni Wilcox
