The Multicultural Student Council is an integral part within Multicultural Student Services (MSS). One of the main goals of the MSS is to promote and sustain an inclusive campus community, and the Multicultural Student Council is one of the ways that the MSS is able to achieve that goal. The MSS is dedicated to providing opportunities to teach and advance multiculturalism within UVU, and within the community, while also serving and supporting multicultural students and helping them to succeed not only in academics, but within their lives as well, so that they may inspire others.
Newly created in the Spring of 2013, the goals and objectives of the MSC are to help current and prospective Multicultural Students to succeed individually and collectively through academia, while also strengthening student involvement not only in activities and events within Multicultural Student Services, but throughout Utah Valley University as well.
Prior to this creation, we have been able to provide meaningful events and programs through the aids of our student clubs, the support and commitment of our MSS staff, and the dedication carried out by a UVUSA/MSS appointed Multicultural Representative.
With the establishment of a council, we as a Center are working towards helping our students become powerful leaders and voices within the university and their communities.
The Multicultural Student Council is responsible for successfully executing and employing programs and events that are assigned during the given school year. The Multicultural Student Council VPs will work with the MSC President to maintain and advance current programs within the MSS, while also establishing new programs and events that will create and further an inclusive campus community. MSC Committee Members will be able to develop leadership skills and characteristics that will allow them to find the resources they need to complete and contribute to their program areas.
