Marcus Alan Vincent
|
BIOGRAPHY: Born in downtown San Francisco, CA, but was raised in Buffalo, NY. He obtained Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts degrees at Brigham Young University in painting and drawing, and studied under Alvin Gittins at the University of Utah. He also completed an internship with figure painter Trevor Southey. Vincent obtained certificates in museum studies at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C., and has served as a MAP II Surveyor for the American Association of Museums. He has over 14 years experience as an administrator and curator in university art museums / galleries.
Professor Vincent has exhibited nationally and is represented in the collections of the Church Museum of History and Art in Salt Lake City, UT; The Emporia State University collection, Emporia, KS; and the Springville Museum of Art, Springville, UT. His work was included in a National Painting Competition juried by Sydney Goodman in New York City in 1995. He was one of the invited artists in the Rockbridge Invitational, at the Armory Art Gallery of Virginia Tech’s School of the Arts, Blacksburg, Virginia, in 2002. This exhibition included Cy Twombly, Sally Mann, Robert Stuart and others. Vincent’s paintings have been included in a variety of traveling and competition exhibitions as well as 29 solo or invitational exhibitions across the country. Reproductions of his paintings and drawings appear in several art texts and many other publications. He has served as juror or curator for numerous exhibitions. |

Melissa has completed a Masters Degree in Museum Studies from San Francisco State University. San Francisco, CA, and a Bachelors degree in the History of Art and Visual Culture. Hempel has also worked at the Exploratorium San Francisco, CA; The California Historical Society; The Museum of Art and History in Santa Cruz, CA. She has also performed several internships. Hempel has experience in developing and conducting public outreach programs and symposia, exhibit curation, and grant writing.
