During Summer of 1991, Dr. Nyamdoo, the first Mongolian ambassador to the United States following the Soviet departure from Mongolia, visited Utah and asked Dr. Malan R. Jackson, founding director of the UVU Center for International Studies to "help educate our young people."

Dr. Nyamdoo and Dr. Jackson worked together to bring students to UVU in 1993 by raising money for tutition, books and fees. These students were able to get part time jobs as well.

Over the next seven years, almost three hundred Mongolian students came to UVU.  Many of these students are now in business; at least one is a famous independent movie maker in Mongolia; many are teachers and professors; others work for the Mongolian government in key positions; some are attorneys; some are bankers.

This collection was donated by Dr. Jackson and his wife Linda in 2008.
