Steven Hunter holds degrees from University of North Texas
(DMA), Manhattan School of Music (MM),
Brigham Young University (BM), and Snow
College (AA). His teachers include Vern and Jan Kagarice,
Tony Baker, David
Finlayson, Dave Taylor, Rusty McKinney, Dan Bachelder, Mark Ammons, and Bryce
Mecham. In addition, he studied wind conducting as a secondary emphasis with
Eugene Corporon
while at UNT.
Steve has performed on stages across the United States and
Europe, including a recent appearance
as a guest soloist at the College Band
Directors National Association conference in Reno, Nevada. He
has also performed with the Park Avenue
Chamber Orchestra, San Angelo Symphony Orchestra, UNT
Wind Symphony, and
Keystone Wind Ensemble. Steve has
recorded with the Mormon Tabernacle
Choir, Tantara, and GIA recording labels.
Previous to working at UVU, Steve taught low brass for Snow
College and as a teaching fellow at the
University of North Texas. In addition to his collegiate teaching, he
has appeared as a guest clinician
and maintained an active private studio
during his time in Utah, Texas, and New York.
Non-musical pursuits include camping, reading, movies, and good food.
