Professor G. Larry Johnson has a long and varied career as a music educator. Larry started his
career as the music teacher at Hurricane High School in Hurricane, Utah. While in that position,
he conducted the choirs and the band. In 1976 his Hurricane HS Marching Band represented
Utah in the U.S. Bicentennial Parade in Philadelphia. His choirs participated in region and state
festivals where they consistently received superior ratings.
Larry also served as co-director of the Southwest Chorale in St. George, Utah. He spent several
years overseeing summer activities at the O.C. Tanner amphitheater in Springdale, Utah. During
his tenure at UVU, Professor Johnson has conducted the A Cappella Choir and Chamber Choir. A
highlight of his choral activity at UVU was a European tour with the A Cappella Choir. He currently
teaches courses in music theory, introduction to music, and choral methods for future music
educators. Larry is active as an adjudicator and clinician throughout the State of Utah.
