Your perception and evaluation of your learning experience is very important to help us improve the quality of teaching at UVU.  Please take the time to complete the online Student Review of Instructors (SRI) at the end of each semester.  We will post announcements in UVLink as to the availability of the system for each semester.  If you have questions in the meantime, you can e-mail sri@uvu.edu.

ANSWERS TO FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

• I have a class with Multiple instructors.  Can I rate them all?

  Unfortunately, you can only enter one rating per course at this time. An enhancement to the system will be implemented in the future to allow ratings for all instructors for a course.

• Why is it only available for such a limited time?
  Academics and Faculty Senate require that the evaluations end before the start of finals.  Because of the major change in the system this semester, we were not able to bring the system on-line until now.  We apologize and in the future it will be available three weeks before finals.
• I don't get the evaluation for one of my instructors/classes.  How do I get it?
  The instructor has an opt out capability if they prefer that a class not be evaluated.  There is a problem with a few of the classes with this feature where the instructor did not opt out but the class was marked that way anyway.  If you find that this is the case, please have your instructor contact Distance Education in order to fix this.
• Can my teacher identify me or my results?
  This survey protects your identity. The survey results are stored in a separate database and the only entry that identifies you in that system is encrypted. In order to insure that you only respond to the survey once per class, we must store a unique database ID for you. This ID has no identifying attributes, and is encrypted. No other personal information is stored in the SRI system. Your responses cannot be linked to you personally, or your student records. The survey results are given to the teacher in summary form.
• I don't want to do it.  Can I Opt out?
  If you really don't want to or don't feel qualified to evaluate your instructors, you may opt out without any penalty. However, we strongly encourage you to take this opportunity to evaluate the quality of instruction at UVU. Your instructors use the survey results to improve the quality of teaching for future students.

  You opt out by clicking on the Submit Survey button without filling out the information. Once done, you will not be able to go back and respond to the survey later!

• Can I preview the evaluation?  What does it look like?

• Who do I contact for more information about evaluations?
  Concerns and questions regarding evaluations should be sent to sri@uvu.edu. You may also contact the Faculty Center for Teaching Excellence or the VP of Academics.
• If I can't take the survey or it doesn't work right, who do I contact regarding technical problems?
  Please contact the IT help desk at (801)863-8888 for immediate response. You may also email sri@uvu.edu and include the course(s) that you can't evaluate along with your UV ID. Someone will respond within 1 working day.
