Practice Tests and Games

These practice tests are meant to complement basic writing principles taught in basic and first year composition courses.Of course, the concepts are useful for all writers and are available for all educational purposes (classroom instruction, tutoring, web links, etc.), as long as source information is given.

Note 1: Games do not provide feedback for answers. To understand why an answer is right or wrong, go to the corresponding practice test or visit our online handouts.

Note 2: Games were designed with software from UVU Distance Education. The tests use Hot Potatoes quiz software and work best with Internet Explorer--they may have trouble with Netscape/Mozilla Firefox.
