Online Tutorials
Discuss your paper in an online chat with a tutor, using our Online Writing Lab (OWL) sessions.
To better serve all university students, the Writing Center provides face-to-face tutorials in the main Center, as well as OWL (Online Writing Lab) tutorials that take place in a chat room type setting. Trained tutors work one-on-one with students to improve overall writing skills and to address specific student or instructor concerns. Thus, students must be present for, and actively engaged in, the tutorial process. As such, we do not accept emailed, faxed, or dropped off papers to correct.
For an OWL tutorial, simply follow these three steps:
|
|
Step One: Make an appointment to meet with a tutor online. To make an appointment, call the Writing Center at (801) 863-8936, or drop by LI 208 to sign up at the front desk during our regular Writing Center hours. OWL tutorials are available at specific times (see OWL Hours below), but you can call the Writing Center any time we're open to schedule your appointment. Appointments start on the hour and last up to 50-minutes.
