General Information
Benefit eligible employees are allowed eight hours each leave year to perform voluntary community service. This can be done on an individual basis, or as a group project. Service should be of a nature that benefits groups or organization that lack the ability to perform service on their own. - Procedure
- The employee must schedule the time off with their supervisor.
- Employee must receive approval of the community service project from the PACE Service Committee.
Service Approval Process:
Applicants must schedule time off with their supervisor and get approval. After receiving approval, applicant will email a description of the service to be performed to the Community Service Committee ( amy.baird@uvu.edu ) including the following:
1. Information about the organization or group to be served
2. Location of the service
3. Duration of the service
4. Its value to the community
Employees are encouraged to wear some kind of UVU apparel to represent UVU while performing their service.
Service Report:
After completing service, the applicant should provide the Day of Service Committee with a brief paragraph explaining the service performed. If possible, provide a photo of the service project.
