The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99) is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. The law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education. Even if you’re paying the tuition, parents or guardians can’t see your student’s grades unless they grant you permission (see link to authorization form below) OR you are able to establish to the satisfaction of the university that you are providing one-half or more of your student's support. For more information about this process, please contact the Registrar's office at 801-863-8493.
