"The Tutoring Program offered through UVU's Partnership Office is fantastic. They matched our daughter with a tutor with the right skill set to help her, made the tutoring schedule work for her schedule, and even worked with her teachers to coordinate getting her caught up and back on track. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this program."
A Brief HistoryIn 1991, Utah Valley State College (now Utah Valley University) joined hands with the U.S. Department of Education as well as Alpine, Nebo, Provo, and Weber School districts, and two community-based programs to help 200 students who were failing in school. There were only 12 such partnerships.
It was uncertain what kind of success we would have with students since other things had failed. What we found were some of the brightest and best students our staff had ever worked with. Each individual and family was unique, therefore a specifically designed tutoring plan was created for each situation.
It has been our privilege to assist thousands of students since 1991 and the results have been almost miraculous. Students who felt they had no future or purpose have now been given optimism and hope allowing these individuals and families peace of mind.
Today, SCUP is expanding to help more students and to solve some of the problems that afflict our community.
