Utah’s Statewide GEAR UP
Education Program

GEAR UP is a federally-funded program for low-income students to help them succeed in high school and prepare for college.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
GEAR UP stands for "Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs"

The three goals for our statewide program are:
  • COMPETENCY – help students achieve basic skills and readiness for college.
  • PREPAREDNESS – increase high school graduation rates and college enrollment.
  • SCHOLARSHIPS – help with access to post-secondary education options and financing for college.
To assist us in meeting our goals of student preparedness and success, GEAR UP offers a variety of services including:
