October 2008
October 1st- Drug Overdose- UVU Police and Orem Paramedics responded to the Digital Learning Center on a male that had passed out. The male had overdosed on prescription pain killers and was taken to a local hospital for further treatment.
October 6th- Medical- A 55 year old male suffered a possible heart attack in the Gunther Trades building. The victim was transported by Orem Paramedics to a local hospital for further evaluation.
October 6th- Medical- A 18 year old female suffered a panic attack in the Hall of Flags. The female was evaluated by UVU Police and taken to Student Health Services for further evaluation.
October 6th- Agency Assist- UVU Police responded to the area of 800 S Sunny Side Lane on a report of a adult male that suffered a ruptured vein in his leg. The male was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for further treatment.
October 6th- Traffic Accident- There was a two vehicle accident in the round-a-bout caused by improper lane travel.
October 6th- Warrant Service- UVU Police initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling 52 mph in a 35 mph zone. The driver had a warrant for his arrest out of Wasatch County. The driver was taken into custody and booked into the Utah County Jail.
October 8th- Medical- UVU Police along with Orem Paramedics responded to the round-a-bout on a report of a woman who fell and had a possible broken ankle. The woman was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for further evaluation.
October 8th- Medical- UVU Police along with Orem Paramedics responded to the PE building on a report of a female suffering a diabetic problem. The woman was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for further treatment.
October 9th- Agency Assist- UVU Police spotted a vehicle matching a description of a vehicle that had been involved in a home invasion earlier in Orem. The Officers began to follow the vehicle at which time the vehicle fled. UVU Officers searched the surrounding neighborhoods and located the vehicle and observed a bloody bat inside the vehicle. The information was passed onto Orem Police Department. The information ultimately led to five dangerous suspects being taken into custody.
October 13th- Agency Assist- UVU Police responded to 750 W 1200 S on a report of a bicycle vs automobile. The bicyclist stated his bike had faulty brakes and he was unable to slow or stop as he came down the hill. The bicyclist struck the rear of a passenger car that was exiting College Terrace. The bicyclist was transported to a local hospital by Orem Paramedics.
October 13th- Medical- UVU Police along with Orem Paramedics responded to the Digital Learning Center on a report of a female that had collapsed. The female was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for further evaluation.
October 28th- DUI- UVU Officers were at the Sinclair Gas station at 1200 S 800 W when they observed a intoxicated female get into a vehicle and drive off. UVU Police initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and arrested the 44 year old female for DUI. The female was booked into the Utah County Jail.
October 30th- Trespassing- A 21 year old student was found in the Student Center after being trespassed from certain areas on campus and ordered to stay away from a faculty member. The student was charged with Trespassing, Criminal Mischief, and Resisting Arrest. The student had also been trespassed from all University property until a Student Affairs hearing can be held.
October 31st- Illegal Consumption/Possession Dangerous Weapon- A 20 year old male attempted to gain entry to the Halloween Dance at the McKay Events Center. Event Center security noticed the suspect was intoxicated and found a pair of brass knuckles and turned the suspect over to UVU Police. The suspect was cited for Illegal Consumption and Possession of a Dangerous Weapon.
October 31st- Illegal Consumption/ Open Container- UVU Police patrolling the parking lots during the Halloween Dance located a vehicle with two passengers in it. Upon investigating the suspicious vehicle, Officers determined the passenger to be intoxicated and under the legal age. The 21 year old driver had also been drinking. The female passenger was cited for Illegal Consumption. The driver was cited for Open Container.
October 31st- Overdose- A 20 year old female was found in the women's restroom at the McKay Event Center during the Halloween Dance and appeared to be incoherent. UVU Police were notified of the female and further investigation determined she was under the influence of a unknown substance. The female was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for further treatment.
