JANUARY 2009

January 1st- Illegal Consumption- A 21 year old male was arrested during the New Years Eve party at the McKay Events Center after he approached Officers while he was severely intoxicated. The male suspect was issued a citation for Illegal Consumption on School Property and released to his mother.

January 1st- Illegal Consumption- A 23 year old male was found in a bathroom during the New Years Eve dance at the McKay Events Center suffering from the effects of alcohol. The male was issued a citation for Illegal Consumption on School Property and released to a sober friend.

January 11th- Alcohol Restricted Driver- UVU Police initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for a unsafe lane change. The Officer discovered all of the occupants of the vehicle to be under the influence of alcohol. The driver was issued citations for Illegal Turn, Driving on Denied License, and Alcohol Restricted Driver. Both passengers were issued citations for illegal consumption. All occupants were released to their parents.

January 13th- Theft- A 30 year old female was issued a citation for Theft from a Library and Damaging Library Material. The suspect attempted to steal a book from the library valued at $30.00 by attempting to remove the security features of the book and concealing the book in her backpack.

January 14th- Medical- UVU Police and Orem Paramedics responded to the PE building on a report of a female that had collapsed. The female was evaluated on scene and released to the care of a friend.

January 16th- Disorderly Conduct- UVU Police responded to College Drive near the DLC on a report of a fight. Officers arrived on scene and found a couple arguing in the middle of the road. The male and female were both charged with Disorderly Conduct.

January 21st- Medical- A UVU Maintenance employee fell off a ladder while working alone in the Administration building at around 02:30 am. The employee regained consciousness and was able to call 911. The employee was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for further evaluation.

January 23rd- Theft- A 23 year old male was arrested after reportedly stealing five books from a room in the Pope Science Building. The suspect attempted to sell the books to Beat The Bookstore. The same suspect was arrested several years ago for stealing a ATM from the McKay Event Center.

January 26th- Fire Alarm- Construction crews cutting cement in the Gunther Trades building created a large amount of dust which caused the fire alarm to activate.

January 26th- Medical- UVU Police and Orem Paramedics responded to Lot H on a report of a employee that fell of a Kabota and injured her back. The employee was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for further evaluation.

January 27th- Medical- A 59 year old female tripped over a large chunk of ice in parking lot V and struck her head on the asphalt. The woman was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for further treatment.

January 28th- Medical- A 29 year old transient fell ill with flu like symptoms while at the Digital Learning Center. The male was transported by ambulance at his request and taken to a local hospital.
