I. Policy
- PURPOSE
To establish regulations regarding the operation of skateboards, roller blades, roller skates, bicycles, motorcycles and like devices on campus and in university-owned facilities.
- POLICY
- Students, employees and visitors of Utah Valley University who operate skateboards, roller blades, roller skates, bicycles, motorcycles and like devices on college property shall exercise due care and reasonable caution to prevent injury to self, others and property.
- Students, employees and visitors of Utah Valley University who operate skateboards, roller blades, roller skates, bicycles, motorcycles and like devices on college property shall yield the right of way to pedestrians at all times and shall not exceed a reasonable speed except as part of a university-approved competition or function.
- Skateboards, roller blades, roller skates, bicycles, motorcycles and like devices shall not be ridden upon any stairways, structures, landscaped areas, concourses and within any buildings. Skateboards, roller blades, roller skates and bicycles may only be ridden upon roadways, sidewalks and paths unless provided by regulations or traffic signs. Motorcycles and like devices shall not be operated on sidewalks or paths under any circumstances.
- No skateboard, bicycle, motorcycle or similar device shall be used to carry more persons at one time than the number for which it was designed and equipped.
- Bicycles, motorcycles and like devices shall be equipped with such brakes, reflectors and other safety mechanisms as required by State law for operation on streets and highways.
- Bicycles, motorcycles and like devices shall not be parked on or at disabled ramps and entrances, hallways, stairwells, fire hydrants, and classrooms. Bicycles, motorcycles and like devices shall not be parked at or near any building entrance or exit in such manner as to impede the free and clear use of such areas.
- Any State laws pertaining to skateboards, roller blades, roller skates, bicycles, motorcycles and like devices are in full effect at the College and all property operated by Utah Valley University.
- Students, employees and visitors of Utah Valley University who operate skateboards, roller blades, roller skates, bicycles, motorcycles and like devices on college property shall exercise due care and reasonable caution to prevent injury to self, others and property.
- SANCTIONS
Violations to this policy may be enforced against students, employees and visitors of Utah Valley University by notices or citations which may be processed and settled through the University Police.
