I. Purpose

1.1 Utah Valley University has an approved master plan and established standards for materials, furniture, and finishes for interiors, as well as exteriors of campus facilities. This document outlines the standards for interiors.

II. Terms

3.1 Campus Purchasing Procedure: Rules and methods established by the UVU Purchasing department for procuring items on campus.

3.2 Furnishings: Chairs, desks, bookcases, etc.

3.3 Internal Finishes: Coverings for wall, floors, ceilings, etc., such as paint, carpet, ceiling tiles.

3.4 Space Assignment and Change Committee: Consists of all University Vice Presidents and the Chief Planning, Budget, and Policy Officer. Resource people for the committee may include the Campus Engineer, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Associate Vice President Facilities/Planning, and representatives from the UVUSA, PACE, and the Faculty Senate.

III. Policy

4.1 Under the direction of the President of the University, the Space Assignment and Change Committee establishes and maintains standards for materials, furniture and finishes for interiors of campus facilities.

4.2 The Space Assignment and Change Committee has identified public areas within campus facilities and maintains specific standards for such areas. Offices are not public areas, but should conform to University Policy and Procedure.

4.3 All finishes and furniture shall adhere to the established standards. All furnishing shall be purchased in accordance with campus purchasing procedures.      

 

IV. Procedures

5.1 Changes and exceptions to the established standards may be requested through the Space Assignment and Change Committee.

5.2 No University employees shall furnish their offices with personally owned desks, files, chairs, and other standard furniture. Wall hangings, small furniture items and other items of decoration may be added by the occupant.

5.3 As funds allow, furnishings currently not meeting established standards will be replaced with compliant furnishings.
