I. Policy
POLICY

The institution is committed to the goals and ideals of the ADA (Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990). The institution will take all steps necessary to assure full implementation of these goals and ideals. It is the intent of the following to assure compliance with this commitment.

  1. ANNOUNCEMENT OF ACCOMMODATIONS
    All institutional sponsored activities, conferences, events, meetings, dinners, and staff parties or activities will include as part of their announcements, news releases, radio broadcasts, bulletins, or invitations, the following statement regarding accommodations available for people with disabilities:
    "Accommodations are available upon request for persons with disabilities. Please contact the Office of Accessibility Services at least (3) working days in advance of the activity to make arrangements at (801) 863-8747. TTY users may call (801) 863-0908."
  2. DIETARY ADJUSTMENTS
    1. If food is being provided at the activity, the statement should read as follows: "Accommodations and dietary alternatives are available upon request for persons with disabilities. Please contact the Office of Accessibility Serivices at least three (3) working days in advance of the activity to make arrangements at (801) 863-8747. TTY users may call (801) 863-0908."
    2. If the cost of the accommodation is less than $50, it will be the responsibility of the sponsoring department to pay for the accommodation. The sponsoring department should arrange and pay for all dietary adjustments necessary. Each department should arrange any reasonable accommodation request. The Office of Accessibility Services has been established to provide resources for providing accommodative services. Accommodations costs above $50 will be the responsibility of the Office of Accessibility Services.
  3. CONCLUSION
    1. Accommodative services should be individualized and the ADA Coordinator should be consulted if any questions or concerns arise from accommodation requests.
    2. Special accommodations may also be arranged upon request and in consultation with the ADA Coordinator. Accommodations may not be denied to any person with a disability without written approval of the ADA Coordinator.
