| My position at Utah Valley University is my dream job! I have the unparalleled opportunity to teach future educators how children learn and how they can use a variety of instructional strategies - including technology - to enhance learning. It really doesn't get any better than that!
But anyone who knows me well understands that even this dream job plays second fiddle to my outstanding family. My husband is a software engineer at Novell and my two children, ages 7 and 3, are the joys of my life. We like to do everything together - four-wheeling in Utah's beautiful mountains, playing the Wii, coloring, it really doesn't matter!
I completed my dissertation, titled, "A Conceptual Analysis of Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge," in 2008. Sounds exciting, doesn't it? Basically, I provided some clarity to a model of how teachers think about technology in the classroom. It was a very interesting and rewarding experience. When I get some down time I like to read - young adult fiction/fantasy is my favorite genre! - or watch cheesy movies (my guilty pleasure!). Being a technology teacher, I thought I'd put up some of my favorite websites for you to visit. Who knows but that you might get some ideas for things to do in your own class!
