                       Major: Accounting.  Allied Fields: Finance and Econometrics.

                       Utah State University .  June, 1982.  Emphasis:  Accounting and Finance.

Utah State University .  June, 1978.  Major:  Speech Communication.

Academic Experience

            Utah Valley State College                                                     2001 to Present

                        Associate Professor (Tenured) – Accounting

                        Taught undergraduate upper-division financial accounting and accounting information systems
                        courses. Assisted in the revision of the department curriculum and developed the curriculum
                        for a new accounting information systems emphasis for accounting majors.  Faculty advisor
                        for the student accounting association.Served on the assessment committee.

           Claremont McKenna College                                                                1996 to 2001

                       Professor of Economics - Accounting   

                       Top-ten liberal arts college specializing in business & government.

                       Taught undergraduate information technology and financial accounting courses.  Served on the
                       Budget
and Finance Committee with the Board of Trustees.  Instituted experiential learning
                       course in Information Technology and Accounting System Design. Lectured internationally in
                       Economic Resource Planning,
eCommerce, B2B, and Information Technology.  Appointed
                       as Visiting Professor at Pomona College (a top-five liberal arts college) and to the plenary
                       faculty at the Peter Drucker School of Business at the Claremont Graduate University .

                        Large top-100 research university.

                        Taught full-time while working full-time towards a Ph.D. with major in Accounting and
                        minors
in Finance and Econometrics.  Honored as the outstanding doctoral student in
                        my major and elected to the American Accounting Association Doctoral Consortium. 
                        First accounting student to ever be offered a full-time appointment as a visiting
                        professor upon completion of my degree.

            American Engine-X-Change ( Houston & Salt Lake City )        1987 to 1992

                        Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

                        Largest automobile engine repair & replacement service chain in

                        Promoted in 1988 from controller of Houston operations to CFO in Salt Lake corporate
                        headquarters. Developed corporate restructuring plan in 1988.  Coordinated all
                        administrative and financial functions for the corporation. Served on the board of directors
                        from 1989 to 1994. 

            ViaNet (Houston)                                                                        1986 to 1987

                        Controller

                        Largest local courier & express package delivery network in Houston .

                        Coordinated financial consolidation of seven local transportation firms.  Oversaw
                        implementation of new computer system.  Responsible for accounting, data processing
                        and administrative staff (60 employees).

 

            Conoco (Denver, Houston & central California )                   1982 to 1986

                        Financial Analyst, Administrative Analyst, Manager

                        Major oil & gas corporation (subsidiary of DuPont)

                        Developed department policy and procedures manuals.  Implemented computerized
                        budget system. Introduced the first usage of the personal computer into Conoco in
                        1982 and oversaw the national implementation of personal computers in 1983. 
                        Developed financial analyst training program and authored investment analysis
                        software program.  Managed transportation facility (35 employees) for a refinery.

                        Accounting Practice

                        Performed accounting services on contract basis for several local companies while a full-time
                        student.  Work included full accounting and tax functions for an oil field services company
                        (Gent Oil & Water) and a frozen
foods transportation company (Garfield Trucking), as well
                        as the annual regulatory audit of a local credit union
(Logan Community Hospital Credit
                        Union).

Performed audits for oil & gas, mining, and retail corporations in Utah and Colorado, and for
a not-for-profit branch office in Salt Lake City . Performed tax work during tax seasons.
