Susan Ormsby is one of the GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs)counselors based at the Northwest Middle School in Salt Lake City .  She loves working with students in this particular socio-economic group, helping them to see the reality of their own dreams and visions.

Susan obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Behavioral Science from Utah Valley State College and has a deep respect for the college, its campus, and its professors.  Having returned to school as a non-traditional student working full time, she appreciates the obstacles that many students face while following their dreams 

While attending school she also worked full time for the Upward Bound program, first as secretary and later, as the Upward Bound Initiative coordinator.  This was a rewarding time spent working with potential first generation college bound students.
