Wendell Nielson received his M.F.A. in Screenwriting from The American Film Institute Conservatory in 2004. In July, 2011, the AFI Conservatory was ranked the #1 Film School in the World by the trade magazine The Hollywood Reporter. Since receiving his M.F.A., Wendell has penned four award-winning feature screenplays. The latest, Wolf's Bane, a finalist in the 2009 WriteMovies.com International Writing Competition, is currently in development. He also wrote the acclaimed 2004 short film Deep Down in Florida. He received a double B.A. from the University of Utah in English and Film Studies with a Special Emphasis in Creative Writing in 1995 and was nominated for Valedictorian. Between attending the U of U and the AFI Conservatory, he worked as a print Journalist, first for The Paradise Post, which received the California Newspaper Publishers Association’s First Place Award for General Excellence during his tenure, and then as the Senior Staff Writer for The Madera Tribune, where he had the opportunity to mentor several up-and-coming journalists. In April, 2011, he received a Leadership Award for volunteer work with the Literacy Action Network in Salt Lake City.
