Wendell Nielson received his M.F.A. in Screenwriting from The American Film Institute Conservatory in 2004. In July, 2011, the AFI Conservatory was ranked the #1 Film School in the World by the trade magazine The Hollywood Reporter. Since receiving his M.F.A., Wendell has penned four award-winning feature screenplays. The latest, Wolf's Bane, a finalist in the 2009 WriteMovies.com International Writing Competition, is currently in development. He also wrote the acclaimed 2004 short film Deep Down in Florida. He received a double B.A. from the University of Utah in English and Film Studies with a Special Emphasis in Creative Writing in 1995 and was nominated for Valedictorian. Between attending the U of U and the AFI Conservatory, he worked as a print Journalist, first for The Paradise Post, which received the California Newspaper Publishers Associationâ€™s First Place Award for General Excellence during his tenure, and then as the Senior Staff Writer for The Madera Tribune, where he had the opportunity to mentor several up-and-coming journalists. In April, 2011, he received a Leadership Award for volunteer work with the Literacy Action Network in Salt Lake City.
