The History of Student Success and Retention at UVU

In 2004, the Student Success and Retention Committee (SSRC) was organized to study the significant retention problem at UVU (at that time losing 60% of freshman in the first year). At the conclusion of that study, which included a Foundations of Excellence® survey to faculty and staff, a Title III grant proposal was written and accepted. Upon receipt of grant funds in 2006, the Office of First Year Experience & Student Retention (FYESR) was formed. We are pleased to announce that at the end of the grant period in fall 2011, UVU's retention rate had increased to 64%.

Moving Forward...

Under the direction of the Associate Vice President for Student Success & Retention and the Dean of University College, the Office of First Year Experience & Student Retention coordinates and promotes campus-wide retention and graduation initiatives.
