Shane Draper
-Head Coach

Head Coach, Shane Draper, was born and raised in Genola, Utah where he graduated from Payson High School and started his career as a rodeo cowboy.

Entering his first year as the Head Coach of the Utah Valley University Rodeo Team he has made great strides. He is a knowledgeable, supportive and motivational coach that has shown dedication and ingenuity in building and leading the rodeo team thus far, without a doubt the organization will be benefited by having him at the helm. He is respected and admired by his team, school and community; in return he uses his quick smile and strong work ethic to assist him in giving us a rodeo team that we can be proud of.

Draper has competed in rodeo at all levels, from High School to college and the PRCA; during his competitive rodeo career he qualified for the UHSRA (Utah High School Rodeo Association) & NHSRA (National High School Rodeo Association), CNFR and the Wilderness Circuit Finals in Saddle Bronc Riding. From 1998 to 2000 he was chosen as the Rocky Mountain Region Student Director for the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association. Draper has been a rodeo judge for the Utah High School Rodeo Association since 2001 and co-produces the annual Genola Amateur Rodeo every year. He says that some of his favorite memories come from all the traveling that he has done while being involved in rodeo.

Draper now makes his career as an elementary teacher and rodeo coach after earning bachelors and master’s degrees in elementary education from Utah State University and Southern Utah University, respectively. At Brookside Elementary he currently teaches science and math and organizes the annual school science fair. He is involved on the school community council and also works as the computer specialist for the school.

Draper’s favorite song is Summer of 69, favorite food is steak and favorite color is blue. Draper often participates in local team roping events and trains and rides horses. He enjoys spending time with his family and supporting them in all their activities, he also loves to camp and hunt.

He is married to his gorgeous wife Shawnee; they have three children, Dexton (8), Skylee (6) and Zandon (1).

Wacey Allred
-Saddle Bronc, Bull Riding

Wacey "Wildman" Allred is a bull and saddle bronc rider who brings his passion and “Wildman” attitude to UVU rodeo all the way from Cleveland, Utah. As a sophomore, civil engineering major he goes by nicknames such as Dirty Wace, The Waco Kid and The Heart Break Kid. He claims to be “wilder than a Texas tornado and to have a big nose.” He says his favorite possession is the chaps that he made himself.

Wacey made it to the High School and College National Finals Rode in bull riding and qualified for the IMPRA and RMPRA in both bull riding and saddle bronc; he started riding professionally last year.

Wacey says he picked his events because you get more ladies and you “just got to be mean as hell to do it.” Wacey likes eating Mac & Cheese, the colors black and red and That 70s Show. Wacey is the son of Tina and Guy Allred.

Colton Bair
-Bareback Riding

Colton Bair is starting his junior year as an Emergency Care major here at UVU and also competes in bareback for the Rodeo team. Colton currently lives in Lehi with his beautiful wife, Hilary, who is also on the rodeo team.

Colton has many awards that start all the way back in 2002; however he says that his favorite rodeo memory of all is winning the Elko Nevada Pro Rodeo Silver State Stampede last year. Back in 2002 Colton was the Silver State International Rodeo Bareback Champion, 3rd place bull rider and All-Around Cowboy Champion. In 2003 he qualified for the National High School Rodeo Finals and in 2004 he was the Intermountain Professional Rodeo association Rookie Bareback Champion. In 2007 he was the Intermountain Professional Rodeo Association Bareback Champion. In 2008 he gathered up an impressive list of stats, including the Rocky Mountain Region College Reserve Champion Bareback Champion and 5th place Bull Rider, College National Finals Rodeo 6th place Bareback Rider and winning it all as the Elko Nevada Silver State Stampede Bareback Champion.

Colton says he chose the sport of bareback riding because it is the event that is considered the most physically demanding event in the sport of rodeo, it is a challenging event that is just fun to do. Colton says his favorite class has been his EMT class or bowling, his favorite song is Look at You Girl by Chris LeDoux, his favorite color is blue and he really enjoys a good hamburger with a side of ranch. Colton was on the honor roll all four years of highs school and in 2008 had the highest GPA at the College National Finals Rodeo and won an academic scholarship. In high school Colton was also involved in the FFA Meat judging team, rodeo team at Bridgerland High School and played baseball. Colton wants to be known for being a great competitor in the arena and a good ambassador for the sport of rodeo. He also is striving to be successful in life and be a good family man – he says his favorite possession on earth is his family, first and foremost. Colton is married to Hilary, is the son of Jean Holyoak and Jerry Bair and the stepson of Sonja Bair and Brad Holyoak.

Blake Beck
-Team Roping

Blake Beck is a team roper that comes to UVU from right down the road in Spanish Fork, Utah. Blake is in his junior year as a Business Management major. He won the Fairview Rodeo this summer on his horse Turbo that he describes as being big, strong and able to go all day long. Blake is an Eagle Scout and says that he wants to be known for being a hard working, fun, honest and a good roper.

Blake likes Mexican food, the color green, the song Back Where I Come From and the movie Dumb and Dumber; he says his best pick up line is ‘Want to get a pizza?’ and his favorite possession on this earth is his truck. Blake is the son of Linda and Bill Beck.

Ty Evans
-Saddle Bronc Riding

Ty is a saddle bronc rider that comes to UVU from Bluffdale, Utah. He is a sophomore history major that says his favorite class so far has been U.S. history.

Ty says his favorite rodeo moment is when he won his first rodeo, the Spanish Fork High School Rodeo in 2006. Ty was the Reserve State Champion in 2007, College Regional Champion and Reserve RMPRA champion in 2008. Ty qualified for the Silver State International High School Rodeo in 2006, the High School National Finals Rodeo in 2007, RMPRA finals in 2008 and Qualified for College National Finals Rodeo in 2008 and qualified for the IMPRA Finals in 2007 and 2008. He has a recorded a record score of 89 points.

Ty is an Eagle Scout that wants to be known for being a fierce competitor in the arena, but a good guy to be friends with. He trains mules in his spare time and says that his favorite possession on earth is his saddle. He says that he choose his event, saddle bronc, because he loves watching it; he says it’s the 'classic sport.'

Ty loves to eat steak, his favorite color is green and his favorite movie is The Cowboys. He says his best pickup line is "Do you have a map? I'm lost in your eyes..." Ty is the son of Kim and Deon Evans.

Connor Kent
- Bareback, Saddle Bronc Riding

Connor is a bareback and saddle bronc rider that brings his skills to UVU from all the way up in Fielding, Utah. He is a sophomore Lineman Technology major that loves sushi and the color red. Connor has had many outstanding rodeo accomplishments but says his most favorite memory is when he took second at his first professional rodeo.

Jake Woolstenhulme
-Team Roping, Steer Wrestling

Jake Woolstenhulme is a local cowboy who comes to UVU from right here in Beautiful Utah. Jake is a team roper and steer wrestler who is in his third year as a health education major at UVU. He is the oldest of four kids, loves steak, the color green and says his favorite class was bowling. Jake says his horse, Frosty, has a heart the size of Texas. Also known as “Wooly”, Jake took 2nd place in both the High School State and Rocky Mountain Region Steer Wrestling of 2006, he was also on the honor roll all four years of high school and was an Academic All American in 2006. He says he wants to be known for being a hard worker, a good kisser and someone who would do anything for anyone; his favorite possessions on earth are his family, horses and the outdoors. Jake is the oldest son of Jeena and Wade Woolstenhulme.

Jentry Youd
-Team Roping

Jentry is a sophomore education major that comes to UVU from right here in Spanish Fork, Utah. He is a team roper who goes by the nicknames Cinch Cutter, Fred and JFY. He describes his horse, Hotty Holly, as quiet, but quick to attack.

Jentry was an accomplished wrestler in high school, winning 4th place individually and a team championship in 2003. He loves laffy taffy jokes and says his favorite possessions on earth are his horses. Jentry wants to be known for being honest and easy to get along with. Jentry says his favorite class has been geology, he loves a good cheeseburger and the color red. Jentry is the youngest of five boys and is the son of Mary Ann and Jay Youd.

Hilary Bair
-Breakaway Roping, Goat Tying, Barrel Racing

Hilary Bair comes to the UVU Rodeo team from right up the road in Lehi, Utah. Hilary started rodeo at the tender age of six. Hillary is a junior, Elementary Education major that competes in goat tying, breakaway and barrels with her horses Daisy and Cricket, whom she describes as being very athletic, reliable and always excited to go.

Hilary is a four time Utah High School Rodeo Association (UHSRA) Finals Qualifier, three time UHSRA Finals Short-Go Qualifier, two time National High School Rodeo Association (NHSRA) Finals qualifier and two time College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) Qualifier. In 2005 she won 5th place at the NHSRA Finals in goat tying and won 3rd place in 2006. Before coming to UVU, Hilary was part of the Weber State Rodeo team from 2006 to 2008. She says that she picked goat tying because it is an event in which you can become as good as you work.

Hilary wants to be known for her optimism and love for life. She enjoys playing board games and says that if she could go to dinner with three people she would choose her husband, George Straight and President Monsen. Hilary says her favorite possessions on earth are her horses, favorite food is spaghetti and French bread and her favorite color is red. Hilary is married to Colton Bair, who is part of the rodeo team as well, and is the daughter of Edee and Chris Walker.

Skya Defa
- Breakaway Roping

Skya is a sophomore history education major from Hanna, Utah. She competes in breakaway roping, team roping and goat tying with her horse Dink whom she says is her favorite possession on earth, her “everything.” She says her favorite rodeo moment is breakaway roping in the NHSFR. She was in the Breakaway Top 10 for the Rocky Mountain Region during the 08-09 season. Skya placed 3rd in Breakaway roping at the 2007 UHSRA and was the Rope to the Summit Champion header three times, from years 2006 to 2008. She qualified for the UHSRA finals all four years of high school and also Nationals in 2007.

During her high school years Skya was also honored for her academics; she graduated third in her class from Tabiona High School and was a participant in the Governor’s Honors Academy in 2006. She was also a successful basketball player, earning a state championship in 2007; she holds the record for the most three pointers in a game with 7 and another record for the most in a career, 115.

Skya says she wants to be known for her kindness, fun personality, hard work and determination. Skya says her favorite color is deep purple, favorite food is hot turkey, favorite TV shoes are Family Guy and Reba and favorite movie is Pearl Harbor. Skya is the daughter of Idawna and Luke Defa.

Weslie Graham
-Barrel Racing

Weslie Graham is a barrel racer that comes to UVU from right here in Provo Canyon. She is a tiny little thing, at only 5’1’’, but says that she is a lot tougher than she looks and that she shouldn’t be judged by her size – her nicknames include Mighty and Wesler! This freshman communications major says her favorite class is Power Yoga, she loves Chinese food and the color red. Her favorite song is “Cowgirl Don’t Cry” and loves the movie 8 Seconds. Weslie says that her best pickup line is "If I could rearrange the alphabet I would put 'U' and 'I' together," but she also says that the best way to get into her heart is to compliment her on her horse.

Weslie’s horse is Rocket, who she describes as hot, handsome and fast; she also listed him as her "spouse" on the team biography sheet. Weslie was a member of the Wasatch Rodeo Team, UBRA, NBHA, America West and Barrel Buddies teams before coming to UVU. She says she wants to be known for her good horsemanship, great attitude and for being outgoing and fun. She says that she chose barrel racing because she feels the need, the need for speed… It keeps her heart beating. Weslie is the daughter of Kay and Rodger Graham.

Rylie Spiker
-Barrel Racing

Rylie Spiker is a little tiny cowgirl with a big huge heart out of gorgeous Alpine, Utah. Rylie specializes in barrel racing with her horse, Porsche; who she describes as the little engine that could. She is a sophomore at UVU and says her favorite class is power yoga. She loves to eat BBQ and watch LadyHawke. Rylie says her best pickup line is, “If you were a tree, I’d wrap you like a koala.” Rylie’s favorite possessions on earth are her horses and she wants to be known by others for her horsemanship. Rylie is the daughter of Rhonda and Richard Spiker.
