About Us

Campus Recreation & Wellness Department 

The Department of Campus Recreation & Wellness will provide oversight of the Student Life & Wellness Center and will assume various roles in the programing and functions of the building. This department includes the following:

Director – Amy L. Grubbs            

Associate Director -  Dasheek Akwenye

Events & Marketing Coordinator – Rebeka Grulich

Intramurals – Coordinator - Jen Berrett, Assistant Coordinator – Dustin Lamont

Outdoor Adventure Center – Coordinator, Kim Reynolds, OAC Store/Rock Wall Manager, Eric Cielinski, OAC Assistant Store Manager – Cory Blaser

Wellness Programs - Coordinator – Sarah Graves, Assistant Coordinator- Natalie Stewart

Mission Statement

Our mission is to enrich the quality of life for students, faculty and staff by providing a broad range of recreation, wellness, and student engagement opportunities that complement the academic experience.

Our Vision

The Campus Recreation & Wellness department actively promotes the pursuit of a balanced, healthy lifestyle to our diverse university community.

Our Goals & Objectives

Goal #1: Expand Campus Recreation & Wellness (OAC, Intramurals and Wellness) programming to have a body, mind and spirit focus.

Objective: Each department will incorporate at minimum 6 new programs for the upcoming year.

Goal #2: Provide programs for beginner, intermediate and advanced skill levels to provide opportunities for an expansive range of students.

Objective: Each SLWC program will be given a 1,2,3 level rating.

Goal #3: Create an outstanding professional and student employee workplace and workforce.

Objective: Ensure that all staff have the appropriate certifications and/or training from an accredited source. SLWC staff is trained on the mission, objectives and goals of the center

Goal #4: Achieve strong financial stability and reserves.

Objective: Maintain a strong business plan and operations manual.
