The responsibility and authority over setting classroom expectations and responding to academic infractions resides with the instructor/chair/dean of that academic area. Faculty members have the right to establish classroom standards of behavior and attendance requirements which students are expected to meet. Students should make contact with faculty members when unable to do so.
While most departments have a unique approach to issues regarding academic misconduct or classroom disruptions, the University consistently expects all academic departments to apply fair, consistent, and commensurate actions, and to report misconduct to Judicial Affairs.
In this capacity Judicial Affairs is a resource for you on your rights in setting classroom expectations, responding to academic misconduct or classroom disruption, and reporting. You may call (801) 863-8665 or email firstname.lastname@example.org the director of Judicial Affairs to report a concern, an academic violation, or consult about an issue.
REFER TO THE STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT FOR FURTHER INFORMATION ABOUT ACADEMIC VIOLATIONS, SANCTIONS, DUE PROCESS, AND APPEALS. (http://www.uvu.edu/policies/officalpolicy/policies/show/policyid/172)
