Committee Application Form

2007-08 Student Government Committee Member Information Sheet


  1. Any member of Student Governement must possess a miniumum cumulative 2.5 GPA when joining a committee. All Student Government members must maintain a 2.5 semester and cumulative GPA while serving in Student Government.

  2. Student Government members must be able to attend Leadership Class and Student Council from 12 to 3 PM on Tuesday and Thursday. Registration numbers are CLSS 1030 (Fall) and CLSS 1040 (Spring). Contact Laurel Riding to register (801.863.8150). (This class is optional, but encouraged.)

  3. Student Governement members must be able to attend committee meetings and other required events and activities for their position. (STUDENT LIFE AND ACTIVITIES COMMITTEES MEET EVERY TUESDAY AT 2:00 PM)

Academic Senate


  • Serves under Academic Vice President Advocates academic student issues
  • Oversees campus question boxes
  • Organizes campus wide speaker forum and "Ask the Prez"
  • Provides montly open forums in each individual School
  • Supports all other Student Government Activities
  • Aids in the development of two-year and four-year programs

Student Life & Activities

(Student Life & Activities committees meet every Tuesday at 2:00 PM)
  • Serves under Student Life Vice President
  • Responsible for on-campus events such as dances and concerts
  • Organizes student forums
  • Organizes monthly Student Family Nights
  • Supports all other Student Government Activities
Activities Committee - Plans and coordinates dances and other campus entertainment e.g. Halloween Dance (The Thriller), Welcome Back Dance, Charity Ball, country dances, large concerts, etc.

Fine Arts Committee - Plans and coordinates events specifically geared toward the fine arts and HASS dept. e.g. Film Festival, Battle of the Bands, UV Idol, theater productions, etc.

Social Committee - Plans and coordinates campus activities involving the community and first year experience activities. e.g. Kid's Nights, Scavenger Hunt, Hold Onto Your Car, etc.

Special Events Committee - Plans and coordinates campus specific and unique events. e.g. Mr. UVSC,Homecoming Events, Extreme Competitions - "Rail Jam", etc.

Spirit Committee - Plans and coordinates activities that promote school pride. In correlation with athletics, SAA, and Rowdies. e.g. tailgate parties, game promotions, Homecoming activities, "Beat the Athlete", etc.


UV Clubs

  • Represents all campus clubs and organizations
  • Oversees & coordinates projects of the ICC Council Representatives

Independent Branch

  • Serves under the Student Body President
  • Supports all other Student Government Activities
Judicial Committee - Works with all branches of Student Government to define and interpret ASUVSC Constitutional issues. Oversees UVSC's delegation and student bills to the Utah Intercollegiate Assembly. Provide regular Legislative up-dates. Coordinates lobbying efforts on State and Nation level. Works to register UVSC students to vote.

Service Committee - Works under the direction of the Director of Service Learning to motivate and organize service activities on campus and in the community of UVSC students, faculty, and staff. supports and coordinates service between UV Clubs, Volunteer Services, and ASUVSC.
