Under the direction of the Student Body President the Independent Branch has the responsibility of providing service and involvement activities for students, faculty, and staff. The Independent Branch hosts the voter registration drives and other activities to inform students of local, state and, national issues facing Higher Education. The Independent Branch also coordinates with the UVU Service Council to provide service opportunities on and off campus.

Independent Branch Responsibilties:

Executive Vice President - The Executive Vice President chairs the Independent Branch meetings, establishes related committees, and has the power to act upon responsibilities delegated to that office by the Student Body President.

Chief Justice - Works with all branches of Student Government to define and interpret UVUSA constitutional issues. Serves as Parliamentarian in Student Council Meetings, oversees UVU’s delegation and student bills to the Utah Intercollegiate Assembly, provides regular legislative up-dates and coordinates lobbying efforts on a state and national level.

Service Council President - Motivates and organizes service activities on campus and in the community for UVU students, faculty and staff, works under Volunteer Service and Learning organization, helps coordinate monthly service projects for committee members and students, supports and coordinates service between clubs, Volunteer Services and UVUSA.

UV Mentor Liaison - Serves as president of UV Mentors and coordinates all activities and programs done in relation to student mentoring and Student Success classes.

International Student Council President – Assists the International Center and UVUSA to coordinate and oversee activities and programs for UVU students. Acts as liaison between both the UVUSA council and the ISM. Acts as Mentor to International students and serves as a supporter to the UVUSA student council.

Multi-cultural Representative- Assists UVUSA and the multi-cultural office, to coordinate and oversee multi-cultural activities and programs for multi-cultural scholarship students, Multi-Cultural office open houses, and other events.
