For student loans, you must submit a FAFSA to Financial Aid and meet with a Financial-Aid Counselor. To pay for Summer school, students can apply for student loans, be awarded a summer scholarship, if eligible, or use any remaining Pell Grant funding left over from the Spring and Fall semesters. All awards are based on individual student eligibility.
Eligible students may receive up to $1,100 through the Summer Grant. Review the eligibility requirements and if you meet ALL criteria, follow the submission instructions. Please note: Summer Grants will be reduced by any remaining Pell Grant funding.
If you were awarded a Pell Grant but did not take 12 credits Spring and Fall, you should have remaining funds available to apply toward your summer semester. You can look at your account on UVLink, or contact a Financial-Aid Counselor in One Stop to confirm remaining funds. Pell Grant amounts are subject to each students Pell Grant Lifetime Eligibility percentage.
If you have received federal loan money at UVU or another institution during the aid year, you may not be eligible for any additional loan monies available for Summer semester.

Utah Valley University created this Summer Completion Grant to help students within two semesters of graduating to attend summer and put them a semester closer to graduation. This scholarship is designed as part of Utah Valley University's Completion Initiative, providing students with resources to complete and graduate with their degrees. Summer semester is one of the options available to assist students in their studies. Federal Pell Grants are available for up to 24 credit hours during the academic school year, and many students use those funds for fall and spring semesters leaving no additional funds to attend summer semester.
