Summer Aid

For student loans, you must submit a FASFA to Financial Aid and meet with a Financial-Aid Counselor.To pay for Summer school students can apply for student loans, be awarded a summer scholarship, if eligible, or use any remaining Pell Grant funding left over from the Spring and Fall semesters. All awards are based on individual student eligibility.

Eligible students may receive up to $1,100 through the Summer Scholarship. Review the eligibility requirements and if you meet ALL criteria, follow the submission instructions. Please note: Summer Scholarships will be reduced by any remaining Pell Grant funding.

If you were awarded a Pell Grant but did not take 12 credits Spring and Fall, you should have remaining funds available to apply toward your summer semester. You can look at your account on UVLink, or contact a Financial-Aid Counselor in One Stop to confirm remaining funds. Pell Grant amounts are subject to each students Pell Grant Lifetime Eligibility percentage.

If you have received federal loan money at UVU or another institution during the aid year, you may not be any additional loan monies available for Summer semester.

Summer Semester 2014 Completion Scholarship Requirements & Application

Utah Valley University created this Summer Semester Scholarship to help students within two semesters of graduating to attend summer and put them a semester closer to graduation. This scholarship is designed as part of Utah Valley University's Completion Initiative, providing students with resources to complete and graduate with their degree. Summer semester is one of the options available to assist students in their studies.
Federal Pell Grants are available up to 24 credit hours during the academic school year, and many students use those funds for fall and spring semesters leaving no additional funds to attend summer semester.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Have 96 credits completed towards a Bachelor's degree or 50 credits towards an Associate's degree and be within two semesters of graduation.
  • Be graduating within two semesters - either Fall 2014 or Spring 2015, including Summer semester
  • Have a minimum of 2.7 GPA
  • Not receiving any Federal Pell Grant or other financial aid for summer 2014.
  • Have an Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) of 7,771 or lower (on FAFSA confirmation)

  • Complete the application (attached)
  • Complete the Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form or attach FAFSA4caster. To complete FAFSA4caster go to
  • Attach your Student Plan from Wolverine Track showing which courses you will be taking your remaining semesters
  • Meet with your advisor and have them sign your application to verify schedule and graduation date
  • Enroll in a minimum of 6 credits

If you meet the eligibility requirements, we encourage you to apply, with the understanding that priority will be given to those students within two semesters of graduating.

Scholarship Amounts:

6-8 credits: $800.00
9-12 credits: $1,100.00
