The Utah Valley University Foundation is the duly established charitable, tax-exempt
501(c)(3) entity that accepts gifts, pledges and payments to benefit UVU. The Foundation
serves as ambassadors for the University, manages the University's investment funds,
and works to raise funds for University priorities. Since 1981, it has contributed
millions of dollars in support for UVU. This support includes funding for scholarships,
curriculum development, and institutional support.
The UVU Foundation operates in support of UVU's current and future needs as a vital
component in the community's economic and educational engines. The Foundation is a
forward-thinking philanthropic body supporting the vision of the University by contributing
expertise, experience, dedication and financial resources.
Utah Valley University's rich history mirrors that of the community. It began as a
wartime vocational training ground and evolved to serve today's needs as a regional
teaching facility. In 1941, the Central Utah Vocational School was formed in response
to the need for skilled workers to support the nation's efforts in World War II. In
the nearly seven decades since that time, UVU evolved into a trades academy; a community
college; and, as of July 1, 2008, Utah's newest university. What began as a tiny vocational
school with a few hundred students is now a burgeoning center of higher learning serving
over 30,000 students.
Foundation Board Members support UVU by:
Telling the story of the University
Planning, organizing, and executing fundraising programs and activities
Achieving a rate of return for the University endowment above the median performance
of similar funds
The President's Circle honors those who have generously given lifetime cumulative
donations exceeding $25,000 in cash or in-kind donations. Membership is recognized
in one of five President's Circle levels: Emerald, Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze.
The Investment Committee is responsible for monitoring and balancing the Foundation’s
endowment within the guidelines of the investment policy and for selecting and overseeing
the Foundation’s asset managers.
