The Grand Robot Challenge

On Thursday, May 2, 2013 twenty-five Utah High School robotics teams will compete in the Fourth Annual "Robot Grand Challenge." Representative teams from every corner and area of Utah were provided Lego Mindstorm NXT robot kits and are now energetically engaged in building their rendition of the grand robot for the Spring competition.

Each student team consists of five official team members and an advisor. But each team is also supported by their "super think tank" squads of students which may be comprised of numerous students and advisors. Students teams will use the motors, mind and sensors of the robot kit to complete various obstacle courses that feature different aspects of the robot.

Winning student teams will be awarded cash and prizes. This year's competition is being held in conjunction with Utah Valley University's Technology Expo at the UCCU Center.

High schools who did not make it through the application process for this year's competition are welcome to still come and attend the event.

High schools interested in competing in next year's (2013) Robot Grand Challenge should contact the Office of Student Involvement at 801-863-6949.
