Awards & Scholarships Information

The Department of Theatrical Arts for Stage and Screen offers several types of scholarships – called tuition waivers – to worthy freshmen, transfer, and continuing students who officially declare themselves Theatre majors.

APPLICATION PROCESS: Application for all tuition waivers awarded through the Department is by audition (for performance students) or by interview (for design/technical students). A departmental application form is required. PLEASE NOTE: Adobe® Reader® is required to view the application form, award criteria, and contract provisions (below). Auditions/interviews are scheduled each spring for the following Fall. For students entering school Spring semester, please contact the department office.

All students are required to sign an award contract, agreeing to the provisions by which the tuition waiver is awarded. Failure to meet the requirements stipulated in the contract will result in departmental probation, forfeiture of the waiver, and/or the possible repayment of the award amount to the institution.

EXCEPTIONAL PERFORMANCE TUITION WAIVER
A minimum 2.0 GPA and a score of 18 on the ACT (incoming freshmen) are required unless otherwise stated. The award amount varies with the maximum being full-tuition for one or two semesters. This waiver is not renewable but may be reapplied for. Residents and non-residents may apply; however, non-residents will only be awarded the equivalent of Resident tuition. DEAN’S MERIT TUITION WAIVER
A minimum 2.5 GPA and a score of 20 on the ACT (incoming freshmen) are required unless otherwise stated. The award amount will vary with the maximum being full-tuition for one or two semesters. This tuition waiver is not renewable but may be reapplied for. Utah residency is required. PLEASE DO NOT APPLY FOR THIS TUITION WAIVER ONLINE. Use the departmental application form instead.

FLORENCE BULLOCK RAGAN TUITION WAIVER
This is a privately-funded award. Preference is given to students with financial need. A minimum of 3.0 GPA is required for consideration. Award amount will vary and can be awarded for one or two semesters; however, in no case will the award be equivalent to a full-tuition waiver. This tuition waiver is not renewable but may be reapplied for. Residents and non-residents may apply. PLEASE DO NOT APPLY FOR THIS TUITION WAIVER ONLINE. OTHER SCHOLARSHIPS
