Dr. D. Terry Petrie, Associate Professor

For the past forty some years, D. Terry Petrie, has successfully earned a living in the fields of theatre and film at the university, public school and professional levels – he has a Ph.D. in Theater, Speech and Cinema. He is currently the Chair of the Department of Theatrical Arts at Utah Valley University.

His first love (after his wife JoAnn) is working with students. He was a Founder and Artistic Director of two very successful community theatre organizations in Western Canada before he moved to Orem.

He has been a visiting professor at a number of major Universities. He loves directing, football (he has been a head coach), dirt biking, canoeing, and horse back riding and packing. He says he loves to direct for a very good reason, “It’s due to my fear of acting on the stage!”
