The University Project will require the time, energy, and talents of the entire UVU
community. A variety of opportunities to participate are open to students, faculty,
staff, and community partners across divisions and disciplines.
Service learning engages the broadest number and variety of students and faculty in the University Project. Courses in English and math are a natural fit given the focus of the project. However, all disciplines may help to advance the objectives of the project. For example, science, technology and engineering-related courses offer exceptional opportunities for applied mathematics. A number of stipends are available to support faculty who wish to pursue a service learning course dedicated to the University Project.
University Project Service Learning Stipends of $250 are available to faculty. Click Here to apply.
Deadline: September 7, 2012 (Fall); December 1, 2012 (Spring/Summer)
The individual initiative of faculty, staff and students is also critical. A number of excellent service providers reside throughout UVU’s service region. With the University’s support, they can greatly expand the breadth and depth of their services to the community.
Faculty, students and staff are encouraged to develop proposals for projects with significant potential to improve literacy and numeracy learning outcomes for K-12 students in UVU’s service region. The application deadline is November 10, 2012.
Application Deadline: October 1, 2012 (Fall); December 1, 2012 (Spring/Summer)
